Summer Waves

Lots of summer birthdays, and everyone likes the ocean!

A friends little boy wanted a shark cake, and wanted to see shark teeth...so this is what I came up with!
This is a yellow cake with buttercream icing. The shark is rice krispy treat, covered in fondant.

Next, my sweet niece was turning 7 and asked me for a strawberry mermaid cake. This is what she got! Its a strawberry cake with buttercream icing and a new Barbie Doll (part of her birthday gift) posing as my mermaid. The decorations are fondant and buttercream, and I didn't get a good picture of him, but there is a cute blue fondant octopus at the bottom of the cake.

Candy Party

A good friend has a awesome little boy who turned 4. They were doing a "candy" theme for the party and wanted a cake to reflect the colorful and fun theme. I have been wanting to try a "rainbow" layer cake and figured this was a perfect opportunity! The cake is a 4 layer "yellow" (or yellow, blue, red and green) cake with buttercream icing. The decorations are gumball's, M&M's, and fondant. What a fun cake this turned out to be!!!

The finished product

What it looked like when they cut it!

UGA Graduation

A good friend of mine had a brother-in-law graduating from UGA (University of Georgia) and they asked me to do a cake for him. The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing and the decorations are all fondant.

Misc Cupcakes

I have made quite a few cupcakes lately!
First, I made cupcakes for a end of season soccer party. They are yellow cupcakes with buttercream icing.

Next, one of my favorite boys was turning 4. His Mom LOVES chocolate (I guess he likes it too ;) so I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate buttercream icing and fondant Lego's.

Finally, I have a friend who I let "sample" my Margarita cupcakes last year. They were such a hit with her husband he requested them for his birthday this year. They are Tequila infused Margarita cupcakes with a Tequila buttercream icing

Teacher Appreciation

Sadly, the school year had to end, and I was sad to say goodbye to some of the best teachers ever. I wanted to give each of them a little something special, so I made each teacher a cupcake bouquet. The cupcakes are yellow cake decorated with buttercream icing and marshmallows. The "stems" are green Twizzler candies

Take Me Out To The Ball Game...

With spring comes baseball, and this season both of my boys were playing. I volunteered to make a cake and cupcakes for the team parties. All cakes and cupcakes are yellow with buttercream icing and fondant decorations. The hats and large baseball are covered with fondant, then decorated.

Sweet Girls Turning 1

I knew two very special little girls, and they were turning one within a few weeks of each other. First was Miss Brooke, who was having a flower and butterfly themed party. For her we did a 10" round yellow cake and a 6" round yellow "smash" cake, both with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.

Next up was Miss Zelda. This sweet girl has 2 older brothers, and Mommy wanted something "girly" for her sweet baby. I did a 6" yellow cake with buttercream "ruffles" and a fondant topper.

Superhero take 2

My second cake was for a super sweet little boy turning 3. The bottom tier is an 8" chocolate cake, and the top tier is a 6" yellow cake, both with buttercream icing. The symbol, city buildings, and 3 are fondant. The action figures are plastic. I hope Colin had a SUPER birthday!

Superhero Birthdays

So Super Hero's are still quite popular with the 3-6 age group, as I have done 2 cakes in the last 2 weeks! First a very special boy was turning 5, and wanted ALL the superhero's on his cake...I couldn't do that but tried to accommodate him as much as possible :) The cake is a 3 tier cake. The bottom tier is an 8" yellow cake, the middle tier is a 6" chocolate cake, and the top tier is a 4" chocolate cake. All the cake is iced with  buttercream icing. The top tier (Hulk) is all buttercream, the middle tier (Spiderman) is buttercream with fondant spidey eyes, and the bottom tier (Batman) is buttercream with a fondant batman and city buildings.

Mint Ganache?

Why yes please! I haven't baked in a while (like 3 weeks) and I couldn't think of a good excuse to make a cake...so I decided to try new cupcakes that I could pawn off on my friends to try! They are yellow cake with a mint chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream icing with chocolate sprinkled on top. I thought they were pretty yummy...waiting to hear back from my taste testers!

Christmas Goodies

Christmas was a busy time of year (as it always is) and what better way to celebrate than with goodies! We had school parties, family get togethers and just baking with my boys.

For my oldest's  school party I volunteered to make cupcakes. I wanted to try out some new recipe's, but wasn't sure a class of 5 year olds was the best group to experiment on...so I made yellow cupcakes with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.

So....since I couldn't use the kids as guinea pigs for a new cupcake, I decided to use their teachers. I made egg nog cupcakes with an egg nog icing and topped it off with a little nutmeg. The boys and I also made a little candy, which was a pretzel, a peppermint Hershey Kiss and an M&M.

For my little guys class we had a few allergies that kept me from being able to bake...but I found a cute Santa Claus made out of strawberries and buttercream icing that were a big hit.
