Sweet Cake for a Sweet Girl

My sweet niece Kaitlyn is turning 4 and I had a sudden desire to make a cake for her. I have never attempted a "designer" (aka non-box sheet cake) before, but I was feeling creative. The cake is 4 layers (2 9" layers and 2 6" layers) with buttercream icing. The stripes, dots and bow are fondant.
Not too bad for my first cake! I enjoyed it so much I've been thinking of (inventing) new occasions for an excuse to bake another cake!

Superbowl Birthday!!

My Uncle This guy I know (the guy that is married to my Aunt Mom's sister-more friends than "Aunt and Uncle") has a birthday in the end of January, and he is the same age as the SuperBowl (thanks to all the advertising we can never forget how old he is). So this year I wanted to make him a "super" cake. The cake is yellow cake with chocolate buttercream icing. The stitching and roman numerals are fondant.
I made a cake this weekend for a family dinner. It was a yellow cake with a strawberry filling and buttercream icing. I'm not happy that the layers are showing, but overall it was a good cake. Guessing from the "after" picture it must have tasted ok!
