A friend needed some cupcakes for her son's soccer team party, and asked if I could throw something together for her. I did 3 dozen cupcakes, 1/2 were yellow cake and 1/2 were chocolate cake both with buttercream icing. The soccer balls are plastic.

Finally Updating....
I haven't posted in a while, but I have done a few cakes!
First up, I did a Super Hero Cake for a sweet boy turning 4. The cake was a 2 layer chocolate cake with buttercream icing and fondant decorations:
I also did a cake for a 40th High School Reunion. They wanted a red velvet cake with white and "Tennessee Orange" decorations...it physically hurt this Dawg fan working with that orange...but I think it turned out ok and hoped they liked it! The cake is a 1/4 sheet red velvet cake with cream cheese icing and fondant decorations.
I also did a pirate cake and cupcakes for the most awesome red headed boy I know (happy 6th birthday Trent!) The cake and cupcakes are strawberry cake with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.
Finally, I did these for myself ;) Peanut butter cupcakes (with crushed Reeces Peanut Butter Cups), with chocolate buttercream icing and Reeces Cup on top..um..YUMMY!

Happy 1st Birthday Aubrey!!!
A dear friend of mine has a sweet baby girl that just turned one. I was honored that they let me make a cake and cupcakes to help them celebrate the big occasion. The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing, fondant decorations and a pink and white ribbon. I also did 36 yellow cupcakes with buttercream icing.
A Tropical Birthday
I did a cake for a sweet girl from my son's class that was turning 5. She wanted a tropical cake that was blue and had flowers...and I did my best to accommodate her! The bottom tier is a 9in square chocolate cake, the top tier is a 6in round yellow cake all with buttercream icing. All decorations (except the pink ribbon around the bottom) are gumpaste.

A Chocolate Birthday Wish
My Dad loves chocolate, so for his birthday I decided to make him a cake, a chocolate cake! This cake is a chocolate cake with chocolate buttercream icing and chocolate ganache on top. If I do say so myself this cake was awesome good! I did learn one lesson...a little ganache goes a LONG way, so it spread all over the place...good thing it was yummy :)
Cupcakes!
I like trying out new recipe's on cupcakes, they are just a little easier and quicker to make. I have been wanting to try a banana pudding cupcake for forever so I finally gave it a shot and we LOVED it! It was a yellow cake with a vanilla cream filling and a banana buttercream icing, topped with crushed nilla waffers. So light and yummy, I will definitely be making this one again!
Also did Transformers cupcakes. My boys LOVE Transformers, and we were having a playdate with some of their friends, so I decided to make them some cupcakes! The cake is a yellow cake and the icing is buttercream. Its hard to tell in picture's but the icing is actually blue and grey swirled together. The toppers are just some candy decorations I got on sale at Michael's.

"I Did"
Yep, I did my first wedding cake! My Dad was getting remarried and he and his lovely bride asked me to do their wedding cake. I'm not sure which was more stressful, getting the tiers on or getting it to the reception...but I think it turned out pretty good for my first one. The cake is a 3 tier yellow cake with buttercream icing, covered in fondant and decorated with ribbon and edible pearl candies. The cake topper is real flowers, like they used in the wedding.
A buggin Birthday
A friend of mine was having a "Bug and Snake" party for her son's 6th birthday (Happy Birthday Matthew!) And wanted a cake and cupcakes for the party. The cake and cupcake's are yellow cake with buttercream icing. The cake is decorated with fondant and the cupcake's are decorated with crushed Oreo "dirt" and plastic bugs the kids could keep. The poor kids never got to eat the cake as squirrels attacked it while they were on a nature walk....but at least it looked cute ;)
I'm Back!!!
I'm back from a nice long beach vacation, and have lots of cakes to share :) First up is a princess cake for my beautiful niece Abigail who was turning 6. The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing and is covered and decorated with marshmallow fondant.
The same weekend I did a cake for my Aunt Patti's anniversary (Happy Belated Anniversary Patti and John). His favorite cake is a spice cake, so this is a spice cake with buttercream icing.

Its finally summer!
It's finally summer, and with that comes birthday season in my family (we have 14 birthday's to celebrate in the summer)! This first is for Patti (Happy Birthday!!) They (she and her husband) spend the summer in their pool, so I thought I'd recreate their favorite past time for them :) The cake is a chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. The "pool water" is piping gel and all other decorations are fondant.

The hat is yellow cake with buttercream icing covered in fondant, and 1/2 of the cupcakes are yellow cake and 1/2 chocolate cake with buttercream icing. Hopefully the cake was a fun ending to a great season!

Cinco De Mayo
Wow...I'm on a roll with posts tonight (I didn't realize how behind I was in posting!)
I have been waiting for Cinco De Mayo for a while now, as I had found a Margarita cupcake that I REALLY wanted to make. Finally it came, and I was not disappointed!!! These cupcakes are a white cake (the cake has tequila and margarita mix in it) with a lime buttercream icing...they were so yummy!!!
Packaged and ready to go (my husband took some to work)

Baby Boom!
Apparently there is quite the baby boom going on...because I have had quite a few "baby shower" cakes and "welcome to the world" cupcakes to make!
The first is a cake for a baby shower a friend was throwing her sister. She said she wanted teal and polka dots...so that's what she got! The cake is an 8 inch, 2 layer yellow cake with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.
Next a friend had a beautiful baby girl (Welcome to the world Zelda!) and I wanted to make cupcakes to celebrate! The cupcakes are yellow cake with almond buttercream icing and some fondant decorations.

Easter Cakes
We typically host Easter lunch at our house, and this year we were expecting quite a crowd (we had 18 people--kids included)! I knew I wanted to make a cake and thought one "might" be enough...but I also wanted to try the "Martha Stewart ruffle cake" so I decided to make 2! The first cake is a 2 layer lemon cake with a lemon buttercream icing, fondant flowers and bunny and chocolate candy eggs.

A Georgia Birthday
Last weekend we went up to Athens for the spring "G Day" football game. One of our friends that we were meeting up there was bringing his 11 year old daughter...and it was her birthday! I thought I'd make her a UGA birthday cake in honor of the day. This cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing, the decorations are fondant.
Edible Flowers you say????
A good friend of mine had a baby girl (Welcome to the world baby Brooke!) and I wanted to bake something for the family but I also thought about doing flowers...so I baked flower cupcakes! Here is the bouquet I gave to them ( there are yellow cupcakes and chocolate cupcakes, both with almond buttercream icing)
They liked them so much, they asked me to make some for her Dr's office!
I also did a small box for them of 4 cupcakes(2 yellow cake and 2 chocolate cake)both with almond buttercream icing.

Go Dawgs!
I wasn't baking this weekend, but decided on Friday this would be a good weekend to try something new. We are huge Dawg fans, and I thought I might as well start practicing a bulldog cake as one will be necessary for tailgating this upcoming football season! This was the first carved cake I've done, the first animal cake and the first time I've used rice krispy treats for decorating. I was pretty pleased with my first attempt! The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing, the head and legs are rice krispy treats, and all decorations are fondant.

Spring is in Bloom
With the exception of the last few cold and rainy days, spring (and allergies) have been in full bloom around here! Spring is one of my favorite times of year, and I especially love the spring flowers and fresh strawberries. I wanted to practice making flowers, and had a new cupcake recipe I wanted to try. First I made a 6 inch yellow cake with a fresh strawberry filling and buttercream icing. The flowers are fondant and the stems and grass are buttercream.
Next I made Strawberries and Cream cupcakes. They are yellow cake with a filling of strawberry cream cheese and homemade whipped cream. The icing is a homemade vanilla whipped cream, soooo good!!!

St. Patrick's Goodies!!
I had a few new recipe's I have been wanting to try, and decided to use St Patrick's Days as an excuse to do them :) First I made an "Irish Car Bomb Cake". It was a chocolate cake with Guinness in it, and a Bailey's Irish Cream frosting. I am not a big (or really at all) fan of Guinness...but this was some chocolate goodness!
Next I made some sugar cookies for my son to take to school. This is just a basic sugar cookie recipe with royal icing.
Finally I made a cake I saw on the blog "i am baker" (love this blog!) Its a "yellow" cake (you will see the surprise in the middle--7 layers of gradually darker green cake) with buttercream icing. The dots are royal icing, and the Leprechaun and pot of gold are fondant.
And the inside...

Birthday Wishes
My little sister was having a birthday, and I wanted to make her some goodies. She lives about 4 hours away so I couldn't just "drop" them off, so I had to wait till my Mom went down to deliver them. I gave her the option of cake or cupcakes, and yellow or chocolate. She picked yellow cupcakes which I made her...but I needed to try out some new pans I got...so I surprised her with a small chocolate cake..the best of both worlds :) She is a UGA fan, so I wanted to try out something new... Cupcakes are yellow cake with almond buttercream icing and the cake is chocolate cake with almond buttercream icing. All decorations are fondant.

Bouquet of Roses
I had some leftover batter and icing from my Its A Boy cake, so I thought I'd get a little practice in. I saw this technique to make a cake full of roses and had to try it out...I really liked it and am looking forward to making another "for real" rose cake!
Its A Boy!!!
I did a cake this week for a baby shower, and its a boy! The cake is a yellow cake with strawberry filling and buttercream icing. All decorations including the shoes and bear I made out of fondant.
