My second cake was for a super sweet little boy turning 3. The bottom tier is an 8" chocolate cake, and the top tier is a 6" yellow cake, both with buttercream icing. The symbol, city buildings, and 3 are fondant. The action figures are plastic. I hope Colin had a SUPER birthday!

Superhero Birthdays
So Super Hero's are still quite popular with the 3-6 age group, as I have done 2 cakes in the last 2 weeks! First a very special boy was turning 5, and wanted ALL the superhero's on his cake...I couldn't do that but tried to accommodate him as much as possible :) The cake is a 3 tier cake. The bottom tier is an 8" yellow cake, the middle tier is a 6" chocolate cake, and the top tier is a 4" chocolate cake. All the cake is iced with buttercream icing. The top tier (Hulk) is all buttercream, the middle tier (Spiderman) is buttercream with fondant spidey eyes, and the bottom tier (Batman) is buttercream with a fondant batman and city buildings.

Mint Ganache?
Why yes please! I haven't baked in a while (like 3 weeks) and I couldn't think of a good excuse to make a cake...so I decided to try new cupcakes that I could pawn off on my friends to try! They are yellow cake with a mint chocolate ganache and chocolate buttercream icing with chocolate sprinkled on top. I thought they were pretty yummy...waiting to hear back from my taste testers!
Christmas Goodies
Christmas was a busy time of year (as it always is) and what better way to celebrate than with goodies! We had school parties, family get togethers and just baking with my boys.
For my oldest's school party I volunteered to make cupcakes. I wanted to try out some new recipe's, but wasn't sure a class of 5 year olds was the best group to experiment on...so I made yellow cupcakes with buttercream icing and fondant decorations.
So....since I couldn't use the kids as guinea pigs for a new cupcake, I decided to use their teachers. I made egg nog cupcakes with an egg nog icing and topped it off with a little nutmeg. The boys and I also made a little candy, which was a pretzel, a peppermint Hershey Kiss and an M&M.
For my little guys class we had a few allergies that kept me from being able to bake...but I found a cute Santa Claus made out of strawberries and buttercream icing that were a big hit.

Soccer!
A friend needed some cupcakes for her son's soccer team party, and asked if I could throw something together for her. I did 3 dozen cupcakes, 1/2 were yellow cake and 1/2 were chocolate cake both with buttercream icing. The soccer balls are plastic.
Hello Kitty Birthday
In November I did a cake and cupcakes for the sweetest little girl I know. Emily was turning 5 and wanted a Hello Kitty cake that was pink and purple....so this is what I came up with! The cake is a yellow cake with buttercream icing and the cupcakes are strawberry cake with buttercream icing, all decorations are fondant.
